The kids studied about Christmas traditions around the world during the month of December and at the end of the year party they performed traditional songs.

I took a video of a few of the songs from the kids program. Griffin (from the stage) noticed that I was not videoing anymore and yells "But Mama, you are supposed to be videoing this! I need to show MeMe!!!"

The kids and I spend a morning at the Festival of Trees. Local Businesses and Organizations decorated Christmas trees that are auctioned off for charity. There was over 50 trees there, Lucie's favorite was the Mardi Gras tree and Griffin's favorite was the Batman tree.

The kids and I headed out to a pumpkin patch this afternoon. It was lots of fun, each one got to pick out a pumpkin, which we will paint sometime this week. in addition to pumpkins, we ran through a hay bale maze and visited with the farm animals.

The kids got tennis rackets for their birthdays so when PawPaw and MawMaw came to visit we all went to the courts and "played". Griffin divided everyone into good transformer and bad transformer teams. He was on the good transformer team until he realized that PawPaw was a good player and then converted over to the "bad guy" team.

Looks like PawPaw had to do all the work!

My boy turned 5 today! We had Family Teaching Workshops most of the day so we started the day off at McDonalds then he got to hang out with Ms Rachel at the office then we had a party with the guys after dinner tonight.

Technically we were not working on the floor with the guys today but at about 7:45pm we heard a knock on the door and were informed that a little bunny had hopped into the house! It took us a while to find him and catch him but he was so cute! Everyone got a chance to see him then we set him free in the backyard where his mama was waiting for him.

My precious girl turned 8 today! Seems unreal that she is so old now :) I love her so much, Lucie has a sweet spirit and is so loving to everyone she meets.

We worked today, so we did most of our celebrating after we got off at 8pm. But two of the guys helped Lucie and Griffin decorate the cake and everyone enjoyed a piece and sang her happy birthday! After work we headed across the street to the park and played then opened presents. Lucie was excited to get a tennis racket and pillow pet.

We have been so very busy working and unpacking and all the other things that involve moving across the country that we had not made it to the local public library yet!

So as soon as Drew went down for a nap, the kids and I headed out for some fun. We got signed up for the summer reading program and checked out books then took a walk around downtown Lawrence. What a great afternoon, I enjoy being with my kids so very much :)

after 20 hours in a moving truck we arrived in Kansas! It was COLD! When we left Louisiana it was hot and humid with temps in the 90's when we arrived in Kansas it was cool with temps in the 60's. Made unloading the moving truck much nicer :)

Our temporary home, called Harper House. We were told to plan on staying here up to 6 months. Just a few days after arriving and unpacking we were we told our new home was available to move into immediately!

I am very thankful to Jodi and Delana for taking time to meet us at McDonalds for one last playdate. And our kids are very thankful for mamas who let them eat ice cream at 10:30 in the morning ;)

Since we moved here after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Jodi and Delana have been my closest friends. Thank you for all the support and always being willing to do something crazy with the kids. Really hoping that we can meet up in Arkansas next summer!

When I found Mocha at the post office 1 1/2 years ago I had no idea that she would become so much a part of our family. The only hesitation about taking the job in Kansas was that we could not bring her with us. Thankfully she will be living with Mr Pat, a friend of ours. We will miss her terribly but know that she is having fun at her new home!

Sunday after church we spent the afternoon at MawMaw's house! The Easter bunny left Lucie a swimsuit for her doll, Griffin a lightsaber and Drew a pillow pet at MawMaw's house.

Traveling

While on our way to Kansas we had lots of fun. Gregg and I always try to find great stops along the way, traveling to vacation spots are sometimes more fun than actually being there! A great resource for finding out of the way places is Road Trip America

We found Mater along Route 66 in Galena, Kansas. He sits at a restored gas station/cafe. Next time we go through there Griffin wants to bring money for gas so he can take Mater for a ride!

In Joplin, Missouri we found a great waterfall and got to do a little hiking. I was very impressed by Lucie's ability to climb rocks in flip-flops!

In Diamond, Missouri we visited the George Washington Carver National Park. It is an amazing place, we all enjoyed learning a little more about this amazing man.

Mardi Gras Retreat

Each year we take our youth on a retreat during the Mardi Gras break from school. Usually we go camping but this year we were offered to stay at Jasmine Hill Tree Plantation in Mississippi. It is a beautiful place with lots of room to run and play games. Our kids look forward to this trip each year because we can go with Dad and the youth. Another family was there also and we all had a blast!

Orange Juice Math

We were stuck at home today because of the icy weather so we decided to bring some liquid sunshine in! We still had some satsuma oranges left over from MawMaw's tree that makes great orange juice.

The kids counted, added and subtracted oranges then squeezed them and measured the juice. The got to enjoy the juice with our lunch and make popsicles with the rest!

Annunciation Mission, Part Two!

Gregg had to make a trip back to Annunciation Mission in New Orleans so we decided to join him!

It was very cold in the mission when we woke up Tuesday morning so everyone wanted a chance to snuggle with Drew!

The kids and I were able to help sort and wrap presents for the families the mission was giving to this Christmas.

Sitting on the laundry soap buckets we brought to the mission. They are going to deliver the buckets to families who can benefit from them.

Lucie and Griffin love each visit with Jackson and Bennett. They all play together so very well. Here they are playing Thomas trains at the Chinese restaurant while the adults visit. Jackson and Bennett are homeschooled just like Lucie and Griffin.

ABC Pond

Today was such a pretty day we decided to spend the afternoon at the ABC pond. We walked around, played and fed the fish and turtles. It's so peaceful out there!

I told the kids these were called Cypress "knees". Lucie turned around and said "Oh no! Do they have a cold?" :)

My squishy, lovable baby turned 4 months old today! He is rolling over and reaching out for objects. He was very excited today when he got ahold of Lucie's braid and pulled..... she wasn't so excited

See You At The Pole

When Dad and the teenagers left for See You At The Pole at the nearby high school, the kids and I decided to have our own prayer time before homeschool started. Not sure where the pole has gone too on our flag but it works just the same :)

had to get a little recess time in before school started. I am loving the cooler mornings around here!!
